Domestic Violence Contact Officer Training

Australia has a range of federal, state and territory legislation that prohibits discrimination, as well as legislation which requires employers to create a safe workplace, free from violence and harassment.

WorkPlacePLUS offers a professional training and development module called Domestic Violence Contact Offer Training. This program is designed to prepare an organisation’s contact officers to better understand the policy and legislative requirements around safety and equal employment opportunity, and how to support employees who are victims and/or survivors of domestic and family violence (DFV).

The training covers areas such recognising signs in colleagues who maybe experiencing DFV.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will learn:

  • Their organisation’s DFV policy

  • Their role as contact officer in the organisation in relation to the policy

  • Appropriate and inappropriate things to say to DFV victims

  • What internal and external resources are available to DFV victims

  • How to set up appropriate referrals

  • How to establish appropriate support
